Spine printing is only available for Perfect Bound booklets. Whether it is possible depends entirely on the thickness of the spine, which is determined by your total page count and paper weight (usually requiring a minimum spine thickness of 0.125 inches or ~60–80 pages depending on stock).

Because of these variables, spine printing requires a custom quote. Please reach out to our team with your specifications, and we will verify if your book meets the thickness requirements.

The best binding depends on four key factors:

• Page count: Saddle Stitch and Loop Stitch work best under 64 pages. Perfect Bound and Wire-O handle higher volumes (up to 96 pages).
• How it will be used: For frequent desk reference or workbooks, choose a lay-flat binding like Wire-O or Plastic Coil. For one-time reads like event programs or brochures, Saddle Stitch is ideal.
• Budget: Stapled Documents and Saddle Stitch are the most cost-effective. Perfect Bound costs more but delivers a premium, bookstore-quality finish with a printable spine.
• Binder compatibility: Need to insert your booklets into ring binders? Loop Stitch is the only binding with wire loops designed specifically for that purpose.

All binding types share the same 4–5 business day turnaround.

Yes, if you choose Saddle Stitch or Loop Stitch binding. These booklets are constructed by folding large sheets of paper in half, which naturally creates 4 pages (front, back, left-inside, right-inside). If your document layout is not a multiple of 4, you must add blank pages to make up the difference.

For Perfect Bound, Wire-O, and Plastic Coil, your page count only needs to be a multiple of 2 (front and back of each leaf).

It depends on how the booklet will be handled and your budget:

• Self-Cover — The cover uses the same paper stock as the inside pages (e.g. 80 lb. Gloss Text throughout). Cost-effective and fast; ideal for newsletters, event programs, and short-run marketing pieces.
• Thicker Cover / Plus-Cover — The cover is printed on a heavier cardstock (e.g. 100 lb. Gloss Cover or Laminated Cover). Recommended for booklets that will be handled frequently, mailed, or need to last — such as product catalogs, presentation booklets, and company profiles.

Minimums vary by binding method:

• Saddle Stitch / Loop Stitch: Minimum 8 pages (including cover). Page count must be a multiple of 4.
• Perfect Bound: Minimum 28 pages, up to 96 pages.
• Wire-O / Plastic Coil: Minimum 8 pages. Page count only needs to be a multiple of 2.
• Stapled Documents: Minimum 2 pages with no specific multiple requirement.

If your page count doesn’t fit the required multiple, simply add blank pages to round up.

Portrait booklets are taller than they are wide — the standard orientation for catalogs, manuals, annual reports, and brochures.

Landscape booklets are wider than they are tall, making them ideal for photo lookbooks, architectural drawings, presentation slide decks, restaurant menus, and visual artist portfolios.

Yes! If your booklet is a workbook, coloring book, scheduler, planner, or technical manual that requires writing with pens or pencils, we strongly recommend choosing 60 lb. Uncoated Text paper. It absorbs ink easily without smudging.

Gloss and Matte paper stocks have coating layers that make them smooth and vibrant, but writing on them with normal ballpoint pens or pencils is difficult and prone to smearing.

Yes! We run a free professional file check on every booklet order. Our prepress team reviews your artwork for bleed lines, resolution (300 dpi), color profile (CMYK), and safe zones. We then generate and email you a digital PDF proof for your final review and approval before sending your booklets to the production press.
